Jun 3, 2008 - all its saying is the smaller the aperture the more depth of field and the bigger the aperture the blurrier the backround will be

Jun 9, 2008 - personaly I have never liked the way photographers blur the background to make the subject stand out more. Looks too unatural and kind of makes me feel dizzy looking at it!

Jul 13, 2008 - I have a lens of 18-55mm and I was trying to take a picture with blur background. Could you give me some tips or do I need to buy a new lens that I can get as low as f2.8. thanks

Jul 14, 2008 - uou sucks

langley2205 Says:

Jul 29, 2008 - Most digital SLR kit lenses have a maximum aperture in the f3.5 to f5.6 range depending on which end of the zoom range you are using. A 55mm lens at f5.6 will not give you a particularly shallow depth of field. To achieve this, you need either a longer lens such as 200mm or longer, or a wider aperture. Quite a few people like to use a fixed 50mm or 55mm lens with an aperture of f1.8 or f1.4 as their standard lens which gives greater opportunity to blur the background.Richard Brown.

Aug 27, 2008 - So would a longer mm lens be better to use with a wider aperture to give the shot a more blurred background?

Oct 19, 2008 - so? you can do this stuff with a point and shoot camera. just put it on manual and adjust your settings.

RMPhotography1 Says:

Oct 19, 2008 - it shouldnt matter if you focus on the subject.

Oct 25, 2008 - most digital camars have a macro setting with a button with a flower shape on it, like mine.:)

Nov 4, 2008 - thank you so much for posting this. I've tried my hardest to find a tutorial that did not include a digital camera. I love that you don't, and please post more if possible. Also if you could do more for beginners that would be great I have a friend who is trying to get into it and had quite an eye but no educational background in photography. I don't have the time or else I'd help her. :) But anyhoo, thanks again!
